Dr. Kia Michel is a urologist and sub-specializes in urologic
oncology, and laparoscopic and robotic surgery. He is one of the
few urologic oncologists in the country who performs robotic and
minimally invasive surgery, and Dr. Michel and his surgical team
are the most active robotic surgeons in Los Angeles.
Dr. Michel's scope of practice includes the treatment of patients
with urologic malignancies (e.g. prostate cancer, bladder cancer,
kidney cancer, testicular cancer) as well as patients with general
urologic issues (e.g. stone disease, incontinence, voiding dysfunction,
erectile dysfunction and infertility).
Dr. Michel completed his undergraduate training at Whitman College
where he was a Presidential Scholar for four years. He subsequently
completed his medical school training at the University of Washington
where he graduated with honors and was elected a member of the
Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society. Dr. Michel moved to Los
Angeles to complete his residency in Urologic Surgery at UCLA.
While in residency, Dr. Michel was a Pfizer scholar and was one
of thirteen urologists in the country to be elected as an American
Foundation for Urologic Diseases Scholar. Upon completing his residency,
Dr. Michel entered his Fellowship in Urologic Oncology. His efforts
in the field were recognized by awards from the American Cancer
Society and the National Institutes of Health as well as the American
Foundation for Urologic Diseases.
Dr. Michel speaks Farsi and Italian in addition to English. He
has experience working with television media and is called upon
frequently for his opinion concerning diverse medical issues ranging
from prostate cancer and robotic surgery to sexual dysfunction.
Dr. Michel currently practices urology in Los Angeles, and is
a partner of the prestigious Comprehensive Urology Medical Group.
